If you play the phrase as written, it takes one measure in 4/4. So theoretically you could use it anytime you needed a one-measure fill (tempo permitting). I guess it's up to you to decide when and how to use it, but it is a bitchin' lick.
I remember when I took my first or second lesson with Steve, he busted out the nine and I flipped out. "That's the Weckl lick!" It's one of the coolest ever.
be glad if there is some groove before the lick!! will have a better understanding of it!
hmm...maybe I'll throw together an HOD lesson with this lick over the weekend. Seems like a lot of folks might benefit from it.

Oh, yeah, Steve. I'm all for your online lessons. I've missed them.
I haven't mentioned this yet because <strike> I don't want to jinx it</strike> something may go wrong between now and then, but the bad news is SSL won't available again until next year, Aprilish. The good news is you will probably be able to get it at your local music store on DVD when that happens.

Just listened to again and I think I'm wrong Drumkid - but definitely heard that before. Any one else got any examples of that lick to post?
